Basilica di Santa Maria (Basilica of Saint Mary)
This beautiful church is one of the oldest of Ferrara and takes its name from the particular place where it was placed, a ford (hence the word go) over to one of the many canals of the Po Church owes its importance to a miraculous occurred in 1171, when drops of blood came out from a wafer wetting the apse, and since then the church has become an important destination of pilgrimage religioso.La church has a beautiful brick façade and laterlizio embellished by a beautiful marble portal, designed by Andrea Ferreri, while the interior has a basilica plan with three naves divided by columns, apse and transept. Basilica di S.Francesco (Basilica of St. Francis)
The Basilica di S.Francesco, overlooking a vast square, is an old church built in 1494 by the architect Biagio Rossetti. The imposing red brick facade is punctuated by magnificent awls to the first order awls magnificent marble while the second order are brick and tile. The interior of great harmony is a Latin cross with three naves and eight side chapels.
