Lo mai gai
Lo mai gai
Lo mai gai
A typical dish of the south of China, but appreciated and acclaimed in other Asian countries, such as Singapore and Malaysia. Literally can be translated as glutinous rice steamed with chicken wrapped in lotus leaves and is mainly served as dim sum, a light meal can be enjoyed together with Chinese tea. The glutinous rice is usually filled with various ingredients such as chicken, mushrooms blacks Chinese, Chinese sausages, shallots and occasionally dried shrimp. The rice ball so filled is then wrapped in a lotus leaf, dried, and finally steamed. As the most famous delicacies of the world, even the ever gai (or Nuo mi ji in Mandarin) can have variations depending both on personal taste, but also from local traditions in Malaysia and Singapore, for example, sometimes the glutinous rice is taken directly from chicken and wrapped in lotus leaves.
