Rank among the World Heritage list, the Nazca Lines are a series of ancient hieroglyphs that represent visible figures only from above and with over 13,000 lines have formed more than 800 drawings, including profiles of stylized animals in common 'area (the whale, the parrot, the lizard more than 180 meters long, the bee hummingbird, the condor and the huge spiders along approximately 45 meters). Several hypotheses have been raised by scholars and archaeologists about their origins and their features: among the various mentioned is no doubt that German archaeologist Maria Reiche, that the lines would have an astronomical significance, identifying with the figure of the Monkey Ursa Major, the Dauphin and the Spider with the constellation of Orion, etc.. Still, according to zoologist Tony Morrison ancient Indians drew figures because they thought that Viracocha (Incas and one of the main deity of which was expected to return to the landing of Cortez), would come down from heaven, and the designs were thus represented signal, as a place of reporting to the god, telling it the place where they were when he would return. Still, according to other archaeologists, who gave a considerable contribution about the mysteries of the lines, they concluded that the lines have to do much more likely with water-related rituals, rather than astronomical concepts. The water supply, in fact, played an important role throughout the region. The excavations have also uncovered a small cavity at the geoglyphs were found in which religious offerings of agricultural products and animals, especially marine. The drawings formed a ritual landscape whose goal was to get water. Also found were stakes, ropes and figure studies. These elements are so simple they used the ancient Nazca to draw their designs.
