Situata nella parte pił stretta della Valle d'Aosta, la localitą di Bard č celebre per la fortezza che, fin dai tempi del Medioevo, domina lo spuntone roccioso che chiude quasi del tutto la valle della Dora Baltea. Il forte, che possiamo ammirare ancora oggi, venne costruito intorno all'anno 1000 su precedenti costruzioni risalenti all'epoca romana, ma con ogni probabilitą, la localitą doveva essere una zona importante del passato dato che costituiva un passaggio obbligatorio per le Gallie. Ancora, non mancano testimonianze, come rocce levigate, che inducono a pensare che i primi insediamenti risalgono probabilmente al 2000 a.C.. Caratterizzata da un clima tipicamente mite per gran parte dell'anno, a Bard si praticano le attivitą tipiche dell'agricoltura locale.
| | Inserted in the narrowest part of the Valle d'Aosta, the locality of Bard is famous for its fortress that has been dominating the rocky peak since the Middle Ages and it closes the Dora Baltea valley almost at all. The fortress, which we can admire even today, had been built about in 1000 on some previous roman building, but, the place had probably to be very important, since it was an obligatory passage towards the Gallia in past times. Moreover, there are also some remains, such as the smooth rockies and the engraving rocks, which make us to think of the first probable settlements of 2000 B.C. Bard is characterized by a typical mild climate most of the year, and the typic local agricolture is practised here in Bard.
