The City
Aosta, thanks to its characteristic Roman, medieval and modern buildings, is nowadays a town rich in history and traditions. It's now a structure of a Roman colony with surrounding wall. The Porta Praetoria, a 5t-century early Christan church and the Augustan Arch are some example of what you can find amongst the other historic buildings.
While you're having a sightseeing you can admire the splendid monuments and the several churches that Aosta offers its visitors. An other favourite touristic destination is certainly Piazza Chanoux (Chanoux Square), placed in the city centre, where you can find the palace built in 1839, the municipal building damaged by the revolutionary French troops. |
