Prima cittadina a levante di Imperia, Diano Marina è oggi una fra le piu belle e rinomate località liguri del ponente, grazie anche alla ricostruzione avvenuta dopo i terremoti incorsi poco prima del novecento.
Reperti storici fanno risalire la fondazione a prima della venuta di Cristo, e sono presenti tracce del passaggio sia dei romani che, piu tardi, dei saraceni.
