La ceramica di Albissola vanta una tradizione storica secolare, i cui primi reperti risalgono alla fine del XV secolo. In questo periodo si ha una fiorente produzione caratterizzata da una doppia venatura: per le classi più modeste terracotte ingobbiate e graffiti, mentre, per i ceti più elevati, fini maioliche inizialmente monocromatiche affiancate ben presto da piastrelle smaltate e loggioni. Si sviluppa anche una notevole produzione di oggetti a smalto berettino in blu cobalto. Nasce quì la famosa maiolica monocromatica azzurra, una delle espressioni più conosciute dell'arte della ceramica albissolese. Le attività delle botteghe artigiane tramandano tuttora questa tradizione diventando uno dei più significativi nel settore produttivo dell'artigianato: ne è un esempio la celebre Passeggiata degli Artisti con la caratterisica pavimentazione composta a mosaico. |
|  | The Albissola ceramic boasts a secular historical tradition and its firts finds date back to the end of the 15th century, when here there was a flourishing production characterized by a two forks: the terra cotta with engobe and graffiti for the middle classes, while, for the upper class, fine majolicas that was monocromathic at first, and then, they were early united with glass-lined tiles and loggioni. Moreover, a notable production of cobalt blue took place just in this period. So, the famous azure monocromathic majolica was born becoming one of the most known artistic expression of the Albissola ceramic in this period. The hand-crafted workshops still keep this tradition becoming one of the most significant in the hand-crafted sector: the famous Passeggiata degli Artisti (the Artists' Promenade) with its characteristic like-mosaic floor is just an example. |
