Well-known and appreciated in much of Europe, particularly in Central and Eastern European cuisines, the Bejgli (also known by other names) is a delicious cake that is primarily consumed during the Easter and Christmas and this is a roll with walnuts (DIOS bejgli) or poppy seeds (Makos bejgli). As is typical for all the most popular, even bejgli may include variants in the preparation, in addition to its principal. The dough is made with yeast, flour, egg yolk and butter. The poppy-seed filling contains raisins, rum, vanilla and ground poppy seeds, the pecan filling contains raisins, rum, lemon zest and chopped walnuts. The paste is spread in a thick plate. After you spread the filling, the dough is rolled into a cylinder with a regular brush with egg yolk and baked in the oven. A delicacy that can satisfy the most discerning palates.
