Bienenstich
If you love the unique, sweet and intense flavours, the Bienenstich (literally bee sting cake) is just the thing for you. The origins of the name are uncertain, so that according to one legend a bee was attracted by the cake and pricked its creator. Another legend, however, said that two bakers of Adernach, in 1474, launched beehives against invaders from a neighboring village (Linz am Rhein, since the Kaiser had promised Adernach taxes of the Rhine, therefore also taken in Linz am Rhein) they were successfully rejected and, therefore, to celebrate such a success, one of the two bakers precisely devised the Bienenstich. If the origins of the name are uncertain, what is certain is that it is a delight to taste at any time of the day capable to delight your palate or to end an elegant dinner or a refined lunch to delight you and your guests. Realized with a sweet yeast dough type, covered with caramelized almonds and topped with a delicious and special buttercream and with the unfailing coverage of honey.
