Overhanging Gardens of Marqueyssac
Located in the city of Vézac, in the French department of Dordogne (Aquitaine), Marqueyssac Gardens are an enchanting place surrounded by peace and tranquility and is ideal for those who want to rejuvenate away from the stress of everyday life. The plant, owned by private, accessible to the public since 1997 and the name of the Hanging Gardens is due to their location on a rocky outcrop 130 meters above the valley of the river of the same name (in fact, Dordogne), at a bend in the river , from which you can enjoy an excellent view of the villages of Beynac-et-Cazenac, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle and La Roque-Gageac and the Dordogne. Historic Site is 22 acres, offers more than 6 km of walks shaded by several trees and flanked by boxwood trees, rock gardens, waterfalls and theaters in the green, these beautiful gardens are able to enchant visitors with these wonderful characteristics and are , among other things, one of the examples of romantic gardens of the nineteenth century's most successful and, with its characteristic winding paths is also an example of the development of the taste of France under Napoleon III. Do not miss Thursday evenings during July and August, when they place the aux Marqueyssac Chandelles: on these occasions, the garden is illuminated and made even more impressive by innumerable threads of light candles that mark the trail.
